'Belle' now on YouTube!
Fans who have often described 'Belle' as one of their favourite CC songs will be interested to hear that it's now on YouTube! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Mx5oVXPatY The song's nostalgia for a long ago amour francaise lent itself perfectly to shots of Paris, done in sepia-style to represent the past. Jon, as the guy being nostalgic, is shown in full colour in the modern day. Wow! Design plus great music! What could be better ...?

Open Mic
Casual inspection of the credits on a CC album will show that Nigel's cherished 12 string guitar rarely features. Keen to hone his guitar skills and sing his own choice of songs, Nigel finally overcame his nerves and started doing Open Mic nights in 2013. Nigel's regular haunt is the White Hart in Olveston, South Gloucestershire. Open Mics are usually the first Thursday in the month from about 8.30pm. All visitors welcomed!

Donations
Music is our hobby, and while we would love to have a million-seller and buy pads somewhere exotic, we're really just writing and playing for fun. We're always keen to share the songs, so in recent years we've increasingly been giving our albums away but inviting folk to donate to one of our favoured charities. Often we will do this informally, but for the record, here are some of the charities we like to support.

Nigel: Has for many years directed all proceeds from his share of the CDs to WaterAid. More recently, however, a close family member was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease and died four years later. So now Nigel will share any donations between WaterAid and the MND association, who fund research but also conduct care and counselling for sufferers and their families. http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/nigelnewmancashcrisis

Jon: Has worked closely for some years with bass player John Sloan on fund-raising for 'New Hope', a Christian charity established by John and his wife Myra, both doctors. From their own pockets, John and Myra go with a group of medically trained friends once or twice a year to medical missions in remote third world areas and treat non-routine cases. The charity funds the clinic and full time health care attendance for all-year round support. http://www.newhope.co.uk/About.html

Cross Purposes
The musicians who play for the Sunday Morning Service at Heswall's Church of the Good Shepherd have always been a great bunch of people, and we sometimes jokingly suggest that many are really 'frustrated rock stars' who have been more than willing to help us out. More evidence of their wider love for music is that for some years a floating group but with a solid core of Brian Murphy, John Sloan and our own Jon have been performing under the name 'Cross Purposes'. This started with a delightful album of contemporary hymns, featuring the crystal clear voice of Sophie Nelson, who helped us out on 'Back in the black' and some beautiful fiddle from Lins Trussel, with whom we had the pleasure of working on 'Got more bills'. Since then the band's popularity has spread, and perhaps 3-4 times a year they're asked to play at a large function, their repertoire including great renditions of classics from the likes of Free, Bill Withers, The Eagles and Eric Clapton. Watch out in this news section for the latest word on upcoming gigs.
